Jack in the Sunshine

Isn’t our new boy really loving his new family?   He was with us all afternoon while we worked on the yard and the raised beds and the bird pole…

He and Luna are getting along pretty well… she likes to play with him and chase him about the place… he seems to enjoy it as well.   I think he’s pretty young still, adult, but I would guess him to be under 2 years old.   He just has that look to him, still kinda gaunt and new a little gangly…

He looks so happy with us all… he likes the dog and the activity, he didn’t even mind when Bella the greyhound came over to visit.   He is not bothered by the ferrets, though I think in his curious little kitty mind he’s not sure why these house squirrels are so fearless… hmmmmm….

I just like it when he cuddles up with me in bed at night.   He likes the creature comforts of a warm blanket and some lonely gal to cuddle and scratch him under his chin while he purrs away most contentedly.   He’s definately my new kitty boy.  My heart is gone.  :-)

New Critter on the Homestead

jack

Meet Jack.  He’s the newest member of the flock.  He just showed up one day, crying and mewing pitifully at the door.   He was upset and hungry.   We gave him a little food outside and Maggie immediately was out there playing with him and petting him and then we discovered he was declawed!  And he’s much too pretty to be a feral cat.   In fact, he’s got no fleas, his ears are clean, his coat shiney and nice…  he’s either lost or a drop off.  We put up a little note at the office and asked around, but no one seems to know where he’s come from nor have they seen him around.

Well, after it got really cold and he didn’t go away, I finally couldn’t stand it one evening…  it was so cold and he was so pathetic, crying outside the door and then right under my window… I had to let him in.

He’s a perfect little gentleman.  And the girl kities are actually very tolerant of him.  He’s just the cutest thing too… he likes to sit on the couch like this…  on the side and all.  And on our arm chair.  It’s very adorable.  He’s got very nice manners and knows about the box and all.   He’s actually stayed the night a time or two and spent the day snoozing on my bed.   He’s pretty content already.

Yeah, he’s a happy boy.   Here he is conferring with Luna about lunchtime and what the menu might be.  Ha ha ha….     He is officially part of the flock.

Gardening Orders are IN!

springorder

Okay, I’m getting really excited… I just sent in my first two gardening orders, strawberries and raspberry plants, corn, beans, peas and other goodies!  I can not wait!  SOOOOON!

I know it’s kinda weird, but I’m not the only one.   I have been dreaming about my new gardens since last year!   Since we moved into the Moby in June, and were rehabbing and all that, we just didn’t have the time to set in a real and proper garden.   It was depressing.  And the year before, I had made a couple little raised beds at the house in Redford, but it was a rental and well, I just didn’t know what I was going to do, so it just wasn’t really good.

I actually haven’t had a good set of gardens since before the divorce and all that fun stuff in my life.  It’s been over 5 years and I am SO ready to get going. If only the weather would clear up and warm up a little bit more.  They say we are going to have SNOW this weekend… YUCK.   But I have flowers poking up through the mulch all over the place, so I know it won’t be tooooo much longer.

The girls and I planted over 400 spring bulbs all around the Moby last fall.  I think we will see a good amount of them survive… I hope so!  I just love dafs and tulips in the early spring, it’s just such an exciting time of the year.  We made it through the winter!  YEAH!
