Liberty Center Photo Shoot

I do graphic arts for a living… and play bluegrass too… but last Monday I had a chance to go and take some shots for a website I’m building for Liberty Center Village in Ohio. I shot over 200 of the buildings, downtown and businesses and such, but these were some that I really liked. Hope you like them too!

Liberty Center is just the sort of little town I would love to live in some day. Not tooo far off the beaten path, but with the beautiful little downtown main street and the old buildings with wonderful charm… maybe someday!

Love this purple roof!!! How cool is that… it’s kinda a plum color, but I think it looks very nice, it works for me!

I love to see a backyard wash line! It’s so well, homey and neat. I would love to do that and will probably rig up a good place for a line for towels and jeans and such… they smell SO yummy dried in the hot sunshine… and it’s a good savings from having to run that dreadful dryer for so long… Liberty Center is a nice place… ya’ll go and visit sometime, eh?

Bluegrass Mom Portrait Assignment

Jessy had an assignment in her photography class to shoot an adult in an occupational setting… and she decided to shoot her mom… in a bluegrass/mobile home setting! HAHA… Well, hey, that is kinda me I guess. She just got her materials back and all, and these are the shots that she used for her assignment. I think she did a nice job with what she had to work with! (HAHA.. ahem…) I’m not one to like to be shot, but well, it’s kinda nice to see how she interprets me! Enjoy!

The Tin Can Tourist Gig

We had one wild bluegrass weekend….   started with the Opry on Friday night and then on Saturday, we had the pleasure of playing for the national Tin Can Tourist convention in Milford, Michigan.

We went up early to get a chance to look at all the vintage travel trailers and RVS…  Oh… I so want a trailer!!!  We had a nice little popup and that was sweet and I would love to get something like that again.  I want to do some camping this summer for sure.   We just love it.  Didn’t do much last year, just was a weird year for my kids and me.  Well, we worked on the rehab of the Moby almost all summer, that really took up a lot of time.   But this year… we’re definately going to go camping often!

Well… the convention was held at the historic Camp Dearborn… a beautiful little place up near the Kensington Metro Park.  Lakes and camp sites and all that.  Very nice place.

Here is my dream trailer!  HAHAHA….  A real redneck bluegrass loving gal’s dreamy RV don’t you think?

Actually I love the Airstreams.. but I also like some of the older complete RVs too…  would love to get one and gut it and just restyle it for our needs…  beds, work space, good storage…  no need for shower and bathroom stuff… or expansive cooking/kitchen…  that takes up a lot of space and most likely you can use the campground facilities just fine…  I’d love to be able to up and go for a week or two when we wanted to… my business is very flexible and I can do that… just need a laptop and a little desk space for the most part…  maybe someday!

It was neat to see all the beautiful restorations… these folks really love their tin cans!  Great group of people   We had the nicest catered dinner… by a group out of Dearborn….  I definately want to consider them for any event that might be up this way a bit!  I don’t know what, but everything was just super good…  there was a broccoli salad that was wonderful!  YUM!  It was so nice of them to add us to the dinner list… musicians are always hungrey, ya know!

It was a bit chilly… no… it was darn right COLD!  HAHAHA… and I foolishly forgot to bring a jacket and we were wearing out Hawaiian shirts…  talk about cold banjo girl!   I was ready to snuggle with anyone and thank goodness our stage area was close and tight so the boys helped to keep me warm!  The wind was whipping pretty good too, so that really made it cold.   Once we got playing though, and the tent was full of great folks… it got to be pretty tolerable!

Jeff and Tim are working on the sound system here… we brought out our own Fender Passport system…  we bought it almost 2 years ago and it’s sure come in handy here and there.   It’s a nice system… 250 watts, and we’ve got some additional speakers and some nice mics…  it works great in a situation like that.   I don’t think it would do well, say at the Opry or anything, as it is designed for small and medium coffeehouses, buildings, tents, outdoor parties, that kind of thing.  We actually used it twice this weekend, so it’s definately worth the effort.

I didn’t actually take any pictures of us playing!!!  Shoot!   I know they had a photographer there at the event… I think I’ll ask the coordinator if they had a shot or two of us that they can share and then I’ll add it up here… it was just a fun time.

You can listen to a few cuts from the recording… it was a great night of fun and we really enjoyed it!
