Wednesdays with Tim

dsc04660

Kinda like that book about Tuesdays with Maury… this is Wednesdays with Tim. I’m just so tickled to be getting these things off my to-do list! And I don’t have to do them! (g) Well… today’s adventures were great… he got to making Jessy’s new desk in their room-re-do! It’s part of her birthday gift from Mom and Dad… she thought up and created a plan for her own perfect desk and we made it happen.

They have this weird angle in their room…. apparently the moby home people thought it would be clever and it’s kinda neat, but actually it makes it very hard to decorate in the two bedrooms because of the weird angle cut. So she designed her desk to take advantage of that! Creative kid!

And she wanted it to form a headboard for her bed, and we’ll be covering it with cotton batting and fabric real soon. It will be neat. The girls are going to make bandana quilts for their beds, and we ordered the bulk bandanas off Ebay… so maybe next week we will start on that. She painted the desk this evening and we’re going to get a piece of beveled glass for it, so she can arrange photos and other paper memories underneath it and have a nice smooth surface for homework and the likes.

She is a college kid now you know.

I think it’s awesome and of course, Tim did a great job…

He also had time to make a little riser shelf in my closet! Yeah! I got to take all the stuff out and he got to work. I have to store the Opry stuff in my little closet, well, because there’s no other good place for it…. and before I had it all stacked in there and it was kind of a drag to dig it out every month. Now, he raised up the clothing and made a sort of table in there, so the big boxes just slide in and under all the shoes and that kind of thing. It’s wonderful and was only about $10 of wood. And custom made.

Yeah, it’s still crammed with a lot of stuff, but it’s the ease now of how I can get the stuff in and out that really is the gem. And the clothes were raised up higher so that wasted space is now being used! I do have to kind of sort through everything and ditch some stuff, but I’m just thrilled at how easy it will be to do now!

He also converted this little yard sale find table into my new grilling table and painted it… it got to dark and rainy out to take a picture, but we’re planning some Fourth of July grilling fun over the weekend, so I’m sure to catch it in action. All cool stuff.

Next Wednesday is painting day… if it doesn’t rain. And that’s a funny thing because every time that Tim’s come out it’s rained… hopefully we’ll get a dry day because I’m running out of inside major projects for him! Well, there is the trim molding in the living room and these lumpy bumps on my bedroom ceiling…. and trim in the bedroom… and I’m sure I will think of a few other things for him! Shed needs a new door built and the fort needs to be painted, raised beds need to be painted… couple more shutters to add to the moby… yeah, he’s got a little more job security here! HAHAHA….

It’s nice to get these things done. They are the finishing touches on the Moby we love. And it’s really adding to the contentment factor!

Fulton County Bluegrass Days

fcb-pic-150show2

This was a fun weekend… we had three gigs in one weekend. We felt like rock stars. We had a good time.

This was at the Shallersville 150 year celebration. Our buddy Jimmy Skinner was in charge of entertainment and he asked us to come. It was very exciting… a road trip. Shallersville is almost 3 hours away. I do believe this was the farthest we ever went with Fulton County Bluegrass. I remember sitting and eating these great big Texas hamburgers, that some local lady made and they were quite good and a big burger.

There wasn’t a whole lot of people there but we had a good time and played our little hearts out. I always smile when I see this picture, we sure look like we knew what we were doing, even if well, we were a little green around the ears.

The sound people gave us a recording of the show and on the long drive home we listened to it and that was neat.

I love the band we’re in now… Jeff and I left Fulton County because of some musical direction issues and such… all water under the dam now… and we formed Deepwater and we’re very happy, no doubt. But there are days that I miss that first music adventure and the time to learn all about playing on stage and band dynamics and all that. I do miss it… somedays.

They were some fun times. And made some great friends. Good memories.

Happy Birthday Jessy!

dsc04659

My old kid turned 19 on Monday….

That is a little weird… I mean, well, 18 was the whole adult thing and everyone was kinda weird about that. She had to start college and she needed to be driving and she had to worry about her adult life and all.

Nineteen comes around and it was kinda just well, like most adult birthdays… just a day, a cake, family well wishes and maybe a dinner out.

She told me later on that it was kinda a little weird for her too. I imagine it was. I am trying to remember my 19th birthday. Can’t really picture it in my memories. I suppose it’s her welcome to the adult world where only big deal birthdays get much recognition anymore… 21… 30…40… 50? Seems like every 10 years you make it, we all gotta get together and be astonished and celebrate! Sounds like fun….
