Playing with Uncle Dingo

Uncle Dingo came to visit on Monday.

Dingo is my kids’ other dog that lives with their Dad. At the time I moved to Michigan 4 years ago, I couldn’t have two dogs, so Dingy (as we like to call him) went to live with Steve and a couple kitties. He prefers that, he’s not much of a multiple dog house kinda dog. He’s a Texas Heeler, which is a mix of Australian Blue Heeler and Border Collie for the most part. He’s our pound puppy project and he came to live with us about 12 years ago. He’s probably about 13 or so, and doing pretty good healthwise, but he is kind of crabby at times and has a bad wheat allergy so you have to be very careful not to give him anything with wheat in it or you will know PRETTY QUICK that his tummy is upset… wheeeeewwwwww! Ewwwww… You can blame the dog on farts around Dingo because he can toot with the best of them. (haha)

All be said, Dingo is a very good boy and he’s excellent off leash, and in fact, he loves to walk himself. You just clip the leash on him and he’ll pick it up and trot off for a walk aside you, holding his own leash. It’s very funny. He likes being his own captain. He’s very obedient as well, I used to take him on errands and he would come along to the print shop and various places and everyone loved Dingo.

Well, his house was being bug-bombed and so he came over for the day and evening and hung out. He’s great with Gypsy, they are old pals. And he likes Evee, to a degree. They play, but she’s so fast for him, that mostly he just stands in the living room, wagging his tail and barking at her as she tries to grab his tail or get a nibble in on his snout. He thinks she’s pretty cool, and wants to play, but he’s just getting kind of old to keep up with a 7 month old pup! Eventually he gets weary of the game and goes and lays down, much to Evee’s disappointment. But they were playing pretty hard this morning, so I caught a few funny shots of the Pester Uncle Dingo game…

This is about at the point where he’s saying, “Can you please put her in her crate for awhile? I need a nap.”

Good old Dingy Boy…

Yuck

My ketchup turned out YUCKY. Blucky! Ugh.

It’s like bad burnt-tasting BBQ sauce with a really yucky vinegary aftertaste that won’t go away.

Please don’t accept homemade ketchup from me for awhile.

Just a public service announcement.

We’re winners!

Gosh! First the Tiny House Blog and all the lovely books and now I find out that we won third place in the summer mobile home park most beautiful moby contest! Out of 200+ homes, I consider that a pretty nifty thing! We were just soooo excited! Got a big whopping $25 off lot rent and a certificate, suitable for framing! Gotta love that!

It’s been a nice little nod at what we’re doing here. Trying to show that mobies don’t have just be all weird colored and left to decay. They are nice little homes and you know, if that’s all you have, then you dance with the one that brought you, as I’d like to say. Make do with what you have and contentment will follow. I always like hearing from the old timers who talk about the depression as children… so many say, they didn’t know how bad it was or how thin they were living because it was all they knew and their folks did a good job of keeping them happy, fed and content. I think that’s why I don’t mind not having a TV and cable… or newspapers and all that. We get only one magazine at the house… a photography one that Jessy loves. That’s it. You have to be careful about all the “contentment stealers” you let into your home. TV commericals and magazines and such to show you what the media thinks you NEED to be SUCCESSFUL and HAPPY… too much of this and you’ll start to believe them all.

Discontentment is one of the worse things that you can let into your life. It robs you of all life’s happiness. Yep, even winning a mobile home contest or having a pretty little garden or just seeing beautiful birds at your feeder. You’ll want more and bigger and better and faster and newer and all, and pretty soon, you’re an unhappy mess.

I love that we got 3rd place in the contest. After all, we could have been 4th or 8th, or 27th…. First would have been nice, sure, but 3rd is wonderful and we feel blessed for the little nod from our neighbors. They said my neighbors nominated us. That’s so nice! That means a lot to me. We love our little old Moby. She’s #1 to us.
