Luna Demands Equal Time

dsc05756

I was parked on the hammock… enjoying a little sunbath and whom should appear but a very disgruntled representative of the feline population of my blog.

Luna feels that the recent excessive dog posts have been well, excessive.

And even Jack has gotten much more time then she.

So I had to listen to her go on and on about it. Flexing her toes and showing me that if I didn’t shape up, she was definitely going to have to take matters into her own paws.

She always knows when I get in the hammock and comes running. I think she likes the perch so she can survey her kingdom. But she doesn’t like it if there is not a warm body on it, to perch upon.

I just think she’s funny.

Fading Sunflowers…

dsc05751
All my beautiful sunflowers are slowly fading away.

Everything on the northside of the Moby is done. And the southside is about half and half finishing up. It’s a little sad, but yet, they have a certain beauty as they finish.

And our bird friends have been working on some of them… and we have a squirrel as well that has figured out to pull down the stalk and strip the heads! He probably thinks he hit the jackpot when he stumbled onto the Moby homestead gardens!

I definitely was overrun with sunflowers this year, but it was such a wonderful problem to have. We had so many that they were a bit of a problem in a few areas, but I think that next year, they are definitely going to be planted a little differently, yet just as prolifically! I just love to look out and see them all over. And from any window!

Drying the heads in the sun is fun… a couple days and they toughen up a little bit and you can sit and mindless pick them out. It’s kinda of stress relieving. And silly fun. I think we’ll have a good 4 or 5 pounds of seeds, easily. Maybe not a whole lot, but still, it’s fun to grow even your own bird treats!

By the way… we are creeping up on our first big produce goal…. 48 pounds of good stuff off the gardens! It’s slowing down a little bit… the tomatoes are kinda getting a little bit finished… and the broccoli has bolted… well, the older broccoli. The fall crops we planted are going to town for sure. And the corn is still going strong. It’s going to be a bit of a race, but I think we’ll absolutely hit the 50 pound mark! Yeah!

Little Bella

dsc_00281

Jessy was shooting dogs again… and she got little Bella.

Bella is my friend, Jeff’s little princess dog. She’s super cute and sweet and doesn’t really act like a foo-foo dog, even though her forearms are the diameter of my THUMB!!!

dsc_00241

She comes over to play with Gypsy and they get along famously. They are hugely different in size, but that’s okay, Bella doesn’t mind. She doesn’t let something like size get in her way. She frolics around with Gypsy and they do doggy-girl things like running around in the yard, rolling in yucky things, chase imaginary squirrels and eat cookies together. Gypsy gets all excited when she sees Jeff’s car through the window and starts whinning and all. Very silly. If I let her out, she will run out into the street to get to them.

But I understand. They are friends.

Bella is an Italian Greyhound. She was rescued from the Toledo Humane Society where Jeff volunteers. That is pretty cool. She goes to work with him and everywhere. She’s a little cutie, there is no doubt.

And she is very good at snoozing….
