New Computer

Picture 1 copy

Well, I went and did it. I got a new used computer. It’s a Mac Mini, and it’s a early 2009 model, which is pretty exciting for me, because I haven’t had a computer that was almost new! This one is pretty cool… it’s got half the max meg… 2 mg ram…. and it’s got a 500 gig hard drive instead of my little old laptop with it’s 30 gig. (yeah… 30…) And it’s got a DVD read-write drive…. shesh, it makes ya hot chocolate in bed!* Honest!

(Okay, no, I don’t think it does that but it probably could you know… it’s that sweeeet!)

And one of the nice things is that it is loaded with software as well that I use all the time… Dreamweaver, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and all that stuff as well as Final Cut Pro, some video processing software and music recording software. I’m just as excited to be updating all my super old software that I use every day in my businesses. It’s a good thing.

I’ll have to buy a monitor for it, but I’ve seen some really nice big wide screen ones on sale at Best Buy… I’ve been watching Craigslist as well, but people don’t seem to be selling used monitors.

Well, I just have to wait now… I bought it from a place in Canada of all things… through Ebay. They had a perfect rating and have been around on Ebay for awhile, so I’m not too worried. More worried about getting it through customs and all that stuff, but it was expideted shipping, so hopefully that will help things to move along. I’ll be so busy anyways for a few more days with all the holiday rush, so it’s okay to wait a bit. Afterall, when it comes, I’m going to want to play around with it!!!

My older laptop is going to migrate to Jessy as her computer died a few months ago. She needs a good laptop for college, so it will have a great life with her. It’s getting old, it’s 6 years old. But it works great for papers and email and internet and all that stuff. And it does have a wireless card so it works great for her and her needs.

Ah… a new computer! I can’t believe it… it’s worth all the super hard work the last 6 weeks! And upgrading equipment and software is a good thing. It will allow me to do a lot more and also to earn a bit more towards hopefully getting our land for the moby!!! All a good good thing!!!

First Snow

DSC06928

Gypsy is so happy, she loves snow!

We got our first snowfall of the season last week. Tuesday… if you are wondering. It was very pretty to look at but it didn’t last very long. But Gypsy got a chance to go and run around in it like a goof ball and she managed to roll in it and bite at it and just basically act like a pup. It’s fun to watch her so joyously experience the fluffy stuff.

It wasn’t much, really kind of a dusting and was pretty much gone by evening fall. But then we got some super cold weather for a few days. It’s back to being pretty reasonable out there.

Frost on the pumpkins…. haha… kind of taken to the extreme. But you know, I still have broccoli and lettuce growing in my garden and I haven’t covered it or anything!!! I think next year I am going to make a little cover for one of the beds and see how long I can grow like broccoli, lettuce, carrots and oh, maybe cabbage? That will be fun. Seeing how long the broccoli is lasting let me think that with some row covers or a little cold frame action, I could have garden fresh goodies for about 8-9 months out of the year! That would be sweet.

LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL ON FRIDAY?????

Can it already be that time of the year??? Garden catalogs? With $25 off coupons? I already got my first order ready to go… seeds mostly and a Meyer Lemon tree baby!

I’ve always wanted one super duper bad.

Oh… gardens… I have been dreaming about them for the last couple weeks and thinking and rethinking and trying to figure out what I’m going to plant where and the new beds I’m gonna have Tim build for me and the dirt I’ll need (I promise to borrow a wheel barrow, girls… honest!) and the compost we’re cooking…. I hope it’s cooking good… can’t wait till the spring to check her out. (I might have put toooo many wooody sticky kinds of things in there… not sure yet….)

sigh.

Well at least December is ALMOST done! HAHAHA… Okay, not quite, but almost half the way done. That means only about 3 more months till I can get started on expanding the Moby Farmlands! I want to add 400 more square feet so that I have 1,000 square feet of food production tastefully stuffed into a mobile home lot. hahaha. I think I can. I can’t wait to try! I’m at 600 already!!!
