Fresh Pasture…

DSC_0773

We only have 3 acres, but it’s laid out nicely and we have several pastures.  We like to rotate the pastures for the hoof stock because it’s one of the best ways to keep parasites low.  This little pasture up front is for our rams and boys, but right now, the boys are still young and running with the main flock.  First of the month we plan to seperate everyone, but right now, this pasture is empty.  And it’s full of yummy clover and little blue cornflowers.  And some nice tall grass.

It’s funny, when you open up the paddock fence and let everyone out, they RUN to this pasture.  They know where the good eats are.  It’s getting a little whacked down now and we will lock them out in a day or two, but for now, they are really enjoying it!  I love watching them graze a new fresh pasture.  They are all super quiet and just munching like fools.  All you hear is the grind of little teeth and the rip of grass as it’s pulled up. Even the little ram boys are involved in the fun!

Cousin Wes Visits…

We are starting a little tradition, here on the homestead.  Our cousin Wesley, he has been coming out in the summer for a little visit and we have a lot of fun.  We jam pack the couple days that he’s here with cookouts, animals, chores, farm visits, canning, and just all around good time.  He’s a ten, almost eleven, year old city boy from California and love animals and country living.  This is the second year of our “Hillbilly Camp for Kids” and we had a good time.  As you can see, we had a good time!  Us older people needed a nap afterwards, but other than that, we were fine and look forward to next year’s session!  :-)   Safe journey home, cousin Wes!!!  (And Uncle Mark!)

New Signs!

DSC_0991

We got the opportunity to redo a couple big signs for a friend of ours!  I love how they turned out.  I think they are very pleased, and I hope they last a good long time for them!  Here’s a few shots of how the whole thing turned out!  DSC_0994

HLW-oldsign

This is the old sign… above…  and the ones that we did for them! I like that we got their logo in there.  He is a leather crafter and makes all sorts of cool leather things!  And they host a big swap meet a couple times a year.  It’s fun!

We also made six yard signs to help point the way for the sale!  Lots of fun!
