Dog Tired…

We are dog tired. Exhausted is more like it. We’ve been doing two trips a day and moving a lot of the heavy furniture. Today was a crazy day for SURE. I had to drive Gunnar to the farm, at a top speed of 27 miles an hour. Now I know what it feels like to be Amish, traveling in a buggy. I got to see a LOT of the countryside! It wasn’t terrible at all, and I brought a frozen lemonade and an emergency donut in case I got stranded. (A cell phone as well.. hahaha) And we strapped a couple bikes to the top so that it would look like I needed to be going so slow. Camouflage, you know.

Steve, the wonder Ex, came over early and we packed up Gunnar with some bulky but light stuff, I grabbed my emergency supplies and off I went. He stay with the girls to load up the freezer and as much stuff as possible from the shed. The idea was that they would come a bit later, with Blue, loaded and that maybe I would arrive around the same time as they would, we would leave Gunnar as a lawn ornament for awhile and then all come back in Blue. Funny thing, I beat them to the farm by like 3 or 4 minutes!!! haha.. 37 miles. My buddy Rob was my texting buddy, cheering us on as each mile creeped by. We encountered VERY little traffic and only got passed about oh 15 times. Haha. Of course, being the studmuffin SHO engined speed demon that is WAS, Gunnar was mildly disgruntled and annoyed. But he managed to get me there safely and now, will be sitting for awhile until I figure out how to get him to my friend Larry down in Akron who has graciously offered to rebuild him once again, only correctly. Sigh. What a tangled car relationship I am in with this beast.

Well, I have come to this simple statement of fact.

Clearly, even when you think you don’t have a lot of stuff, you DO have a lot of stuff, and it takes a LONG time to move all the stuff you don’t think you have and until all your stuff has to be moved and then you will realize… oh my gosh, we have a lot of stuff!!!!!!!!!

I never thought we would have so much stuff crammed into a 800 square foot moby.

I do believe we are related in some way to chipmunks. Or perhaps packrats. Or depression era grandparents.

Shesh. And we still have more. We’ve made now 19 trips with the station wagons and one van load and three truck loads.

I realized that for the most part, we were going back and forth, so it was a savings for certain, but it’s just getting to be a weary proposition and one that I do see an end to… there… somewhere… Hopefully, Friday. That’s the plan at least.

Tomorrow is going to be a load of miscellanies with a good dash of dug up trees, bushes and beloved plants. I really want to make sure I get my rootstock out to the farm. Especially my irises. And hostas. And of course, trees. Oh yeah and my raised beds. And of course all our rocks and pavers. haha… shesh.

Edward, the guinea pig, went to vacation today with our friend Shelly. She loves piggies and when her beloved Toffee passed away a few years ago, has no one to feed strawberries to. Since Eddy is a little delicate when it comes to colder weather and drafts, we asked nicely and she eagerly accepted to give Edward a deluxe piggy vacation for a week or so until the weather is nice and consistant. I do believe he will not want to leave her pampering piggie hotel and will be a little annoyed to leave! But it’s so nice to have a good place for him to hang out for a wee bit. The gerbils will be fine, they are little desert critters and have a lovely warm nest and each other to snuggle with. So do the ferrets.

All the livestock is coming over on Friday. Should be interesting. Dixie Chicky the spooky kitty will probably be traumatized and need extensive Jessy therapy for about 6 weeks. Luna, of course, will be freaked for a few hours and then start sectioning off her domain quickly. We’re taking Jack with us as well, even though he’s kind of a half ours kitty and is a park roamer. He still comes in most every night and we feed him and all, so I consider him ours. The lovely kitty lady won’t miss him out of the 20+ or so that visit her chow line in the afternoon. He’ll be pretty good, and probably will be our first allowed out. But not for a few good days until he gets the hang of the house and all that.

We’ve got internet coming on Friday. Satellite, high speed. Country Net. It’s not too expensive, and yet not too cheap either. But it’s how we make our living, so it’s okay. $70 a month. But considering we lost our sewer charges and gas charges and a bunch more stuff? I can deal with it just fine. Did I mention… MORTGAGE??? I still can’t get over the fact that we will have no rent, no mortgage, nothing! Shesh… Still feels like winning the lottery. It really does.

Well, I’m tuckered out and I didn’t even hardly take any pictures! Maybe tomorrow I will! Will try and stay in touch… we’re going to be moved in by Friday.

Because it’s Maggie’s Birthday.

Pretty good reason as any other, I think.

Easter Weekend

I so hope that everyone has had a lovely Easter weekend! We finally have had a few good days of sunshine and warmth! It was so wonderful to wander the property several times over the 3 days past. A couple times with the puppies, too and most delightfully, with my friends Bill and Pam who came down from Michigan! I can’t wait until we are moved in for good and it needs to be soon. We are all getting a little weary and a touch irritable… we need to be settling in soon!

We managed to get the kitchen windows all painted. That deep blue trim was just too much! Now it’s a nice clean white. I would love to have the trim in place and window treatments up, but that will be a little longer. Too many other priorities up on the list.

We’re totally lucking out, most of the curtains and rods that we have in the Moby will work nicely in the farmhouse. Once we actually get moved in, we’ll be getting those up throughout.

We got the first coat of white trim on the windows in the big office. I think they will need one more coat to make sure they are just perfect. We’ll probably get that finished up tomorrow. We need to paint the inside of the old kitchen cupboard, the one that is old and probably from the old farm house. And my office needs another coat to be finished. Monday jobs!

Maggie has really come into her own as a painter! She painted the whole living room by herself! And it looks fantastic! Sure, we might want to really do it all nice at some later point, it could really stand to have the walls drywalled and such, but for now, $5 of premium miss-tinted paint and two days of Maggie painting and the place is light and brighter and not nearly as yucky looking as it was a while ago! We’re going to take out the yucky worn carpeting pretty quickly and we have a nice piece of carpeting from the Moby to fill up the space nicely. It will be a great deal more tolerable then we ever imagined! The ceiling is still a bit of a question, but it’s in the plans.

Believe it or not, this is all our excess stuff! We have really tried over the years to cut back on the “stuff” in our lives and I think it really shows! This room is not huge at all, and it is only about 3 or 4 boxes deep. And this is for all three of us! It will be nice to take our time unpacking these boxes and sorting it all out nicely in our new place. We definitely do not have enough furniture for the house! It will be so much fun to watch the garage and yard sales of the coming year for a few new pieces to fill up the place a little bit more. However, we would like to keep the place a little on the thin side, never one for too much cluttery stuff just for stuff’s sake.

Well, Jessy is coming along, she’s almost got one whole wall cleaned out mostly.  We are going to start with some hot water and vinegar soaks.  And then some sanding.  I must admit, her dilligence in this effort is going to pay off with a most lovely room.  She should be soon scraping in a few days.  She might be sleeping in the living room or up with Maggie for a bit until she gets her own room ready, but that’s okay.  You know, they have been sharing a room for years and years and never minded.  I think that has made them very close and that is nice.   But at the same time, I think they are looking forward to having their own rooms!

Maggie’s stairway to her lair looks simply wonderful!  So much nicer than that dark blue and dark grey!  She wants to put some little carpet treads on the steps.  I know she wants to put some posters up and all that sort of teenager thing.  I think it’s a lovely place for a teen art gallery of all that is important to her!

What a delight when our friends from Michigan dropped in!  They were on their way to a Michigan bluegrass show and wanted to come down and visit!   They brought us a lovely gift of some extra wonderful laminate flooring, enough I’m sure for my office or maybe even the dining room!  And they also brought this super cool little wind thingamajig that Bill made!    Here at Windhaven, we first set him up near the front and he was sawing like crazy!  We ended up moving him around several places before we found a little sheltered area!  We don’t want him to wear out on the first day!  It was very windy on Saturday for sure.

Maggie just adored the little guy… she loves windmills and the idea of harnessing some of the power here with the ever present breezes!  Why not?  They’ve been doing it for years and years.  And you don’t need a ton of super fancy equipment or those super expensive turbines, either, just to spin a little power.  We are certainly going to be looking into some ways to harness the wind around here.   Some super serious homeschooling assignments for us all coming up in the next few months!

Three different drop in neighbors have told us all about the sorrid details of the last 10 years to us, and the one thing they have all talked about was the famous asparagus bed somewhere on the the property!  I have been walking around with this on my mind now since I heard about it a few weeks ago.  So when another new neighbor dropped by… I asked him right up.  Where is the asparagus?   And Rod, he knew right away and off we walked.

Sure enough, it’s right behind the barn and as he talked and told us where the past families had their garden, I could see the faint outlines of a big garden!  Oh no!   Of course, its not near my garden area… now I think that I might have two lovely garden spots.  I’m actually thinking that at least this year, I will plant my corn out where they used to garden.  That way I can plant quite a bit of it!  Why not… I’m sure my hens will love it and we aren’t going to have that area fenced  anytime soon.  I have a bunch of corn seed that may or may not be good, so I think I’ll plant it all and see what comes up!  Why not!

I’m just so happy to have finally found this patch!  And the funny thing?  I don’t think I’ve every had asparagus before!!!  Yeah, crazy, I know, but for whatever reason, I’ve never had it.  Everyone raves about it and I imagine, fresh picked and steamed with some lovely little sauce as all the recipes seem to indicate is proper procedure with this dish of kings… I am game to give it a try!  Any good tips or recipes, please be certain to share!   hee hee

Here is the future site of our little pond area.  Several times now after bad storms and early thaws, it’s been wet and puddly.  Never a huge full blown lake, yet, but we did have some pretty heavy rains on Friday and by Saturday morning, this was nearly all underwater.  It’s the area right behind the poultry barn and where I have my new garden area.  And yes, the garden was partially under water as well.  Our lovely little fake creek ditch was full of water, and I wish I had gotten a photo of it… it was so pretty to pretend we actually had a creek!  But what I was most thankful for, was that the little ditch was doing it’s job.  The rest of the property was fine.  That’s good.

Since this back area really wants to be under water, I think that is an excellent place to consider a pond.  And from all the research I am doing on ponds and pond construction, the very first thing you need to do is to dig a great big hole,  about oh, a foot or two across and as far down as you can get… in fact 6 to 8 feet is recommended!  Good thing we got that wheelbarrow!  The dirt we dig, I think we will add to the north end of the new garden, so that we can mound up the last couple rows and not have a major flood to new seedlings!

Once you dig your hole, you measure it’s depth and then fill it with water.  Once full, you time how long it take to soak into the ground.  If it’s real quick, it’s not a good place for a pond.  It takes hours, then, well, okay, but if it takes days?  Perfect!  Considering how much water I’ve seen back there off and on, I think it’s going to be days!  But we’ll see.  No big hurry, but hey, planning is a good thing!

As you can see, this is two days after the big storm and it’s soaking in pretty good.  At least in the garden area.  I’m actually going to do mounded rows the short dimension, not the whole long side.  I want to be able to have a whole row of this and a whole row of that, rather than super long rows that I divide into various veggies.  I’m going to research the best to have down at the slightly wetter areas, and plant accordingly.  That why those chosen veggies will get the benefit from summer soaks!  I’m already thinking carrots and cukes, which if I recall seem to really enjoy a good soak!

Just can’t wait to get growing, but it’s still a week or three away!  After all, this very unseasonable weather still has most of the tree only barely budding and the tulips are not even up yet!  It’s almost as if spring is waiting for us to move in and get the house ready!  It knows that I want to be able to spend a ton of time outside and planting this spring and not loose a bit of time!  Yeah!  Thanks Spring!  Haha….

I found a lovely patch of iris growing on the east side of the poultry barn!  Yahoo!  I love iris… can’t wait to see the colors.  Actually, I just can’t wait to see all the delightful plants that are starting to crop up all over the place!   My first thought is to rip up all the weeds and just mulch and start over, but I think there is a wealth of lovely plant material all over the homestead, so this first year, it’s going to be more of a let it grow and see what comes!  I’m finding little treasures ALL OVER THE PLACE…  tons of beautiful tiger lillies, daffidils everywhere.  I think I’ve found the English walnut tree over by the dead pine, and I’m finding more iris by the old chicken coop as well.  Of course, I’m also finding some nice weeds starting up, some HUGE thistles and such…  I will be doing my best to eradicate some of those for sure.  Mowing will help to keep some of the other wild plants to a bit of a low roar.   We’re going to keep about a quarter acre wild in the way eastern corner, and hopefully plant some more trees and such back there for future use.  I found a place nearby on Craigslist that has windbreak pines and bushes for super reasonable prices!  Up to 4 foot high pines for only $10 each.  As soon as we can afford to, we will be getting some for the southern front of the property.  That is where a LOT of wind seems to be coming and it’s not go anything to stop it.   I know it will take awhile, but we might as well get started!   And it will offer a little privacy from the front road as well as a help for the fencing and such.  (The pines can hide the fence and also help to provide a mental barrier for the dogs and cats as well.  All good!)   But all in due time!   I suspect it will be the trees of the month club!  Whatever we can spare from the budget will go into buying a few more trees for the front!

Right behind the screen porch is a yucky little muddy bare area… We definitely need a piece of gutter on the roof to direct a bit of the water run off.  It’s a shady place, and I think I have some beautiful hostas from my Moby garden that will adore this location.  However, I have noticed that there are a few little plants trying to get going…  some beautiful little ferns and another ground cover, I think is called snow on the mountain, if I’m not mistaken.  I know it’s a little invasive, but the area is so barren, I think anything would be nice.  I will definitely pop a few of my giant hostas here and see if they like it.  And we’re going to try and put up a bit of gutter on our own and see if we can manage to get the area a teeny bit more dry!

We keep finding these little stashes of forgotten projects and such all over the place!  Like all these little tiles in the flower beds near the house.  Not sure why, or what they were intended for, but now they just look kind of fun.  I think that lovely green clump is actually just grass, but I’m letting it grow a bit and make sure! Like I said, this first year is going to be a very busy one for my garden journal!   I’m going to be taking a lot of notes of the various seasons and the things that grow up!   Some stuff is going to get moved, like a few bunches of lillies and daffys in very odd areas, or in mowing paths, etc.  Sounds like so much fun!

We drive by this lovely little lake when we go out to the farm.  And in this lake is this weeping willow and for some reason today, I just thought it was so pretty, with it’s little delicate buds starting and reflecting in the still waters.  I had to stop the car and let Jessy snap a couple pictures.  It’s just so pretty.

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend and that if you are in an area that spring is coming to, that you are enjoying this beautiful season of rebirth.  I think it’s only fitting that the Lord would give up his Son and then give us salvation with Jesus’s rising in a season that so gives us hope and contentment on our own rebirth in the love and warmth and light of God’s love for us.  It’s a lovely time and I hope you can share it with those whom you love around you too!

Stay tuned… it’s going to be a wild week and if I can’t post every day, I will do my best to at least recap as soon as I can.  We are trying to get all moved in by the end of the week.  It would be lovely if it’s by Friday, because that is Maggie’s birthday and she’d like that a lot.  It’s going to be a lot of work, but we just really need to get done with this whole month long rehab and moving process.

My much loved Gunnar is acting up, and the transmission is toast, again.  We took him up to the corner this afternoon and I had no high gears.  I have a friend that will fix him, but he’s about 150 miles away, so I’m just not sure how I will get him there.  And I just can’t leave him at the moby park, just one of those wrenches in the plans for sure!  I can pop it into the low gear and get about 35 miles an hour, so worse comes to worse, I’m going to be taking him out to the farm on the back roads as a lovely lawn ornament until I can find someone with a car trailer to drag him off for major surgery.  It’s just such a mess, this car has been.  I can’t wait for someone to fix it RIGHT and make me a happy woman.  I just love this car…  crazy crazy story for sure.  Maybe someday I will relate it.  But right now, I think it’s just time for bed!   We’ve got a HUGE week ahead and I just want to get this over with!  Got a bunch of trees and plants to dig up this week as well.  Raised beds to bring over for my new kitchen garden and herbs!  And our orchard needs to be planted!    Hope all goes well!   Can’t wait for our first night there at the farm.  Wish us luck!!!

Wednesday and Thursday

Well… Wednesday and Thursday were great days! It seemed like we were cooking with gas again. Okay, well, no, we weren’t doing much with gas. But that’s another story.

It was just barely warm enough to paint, so I wanted to paint my room. I wanted to finish at least one whole room and my bedroom was the easiest to get done. It’s only 7 x 10, but that’s okay, my bed fits just barely, and a dresser, so I know it will be small and cosy. Of course, I wanted it to be purple, or well, a light lavender on the walls. I could hardly believe it, there was a misstint that was just a smidge brighter than I wanted, but it was fine. For $5, I can handle brighter. Once I get my bed and pictures up and the room filled, it won’t be as loudly lavendar. And worse comes to worse, if I just can’t deal with it, I can paint it again.

After all, it only took about an hour. Hahaha… a 7 x 10 room is really easy to paint quickly!

Funny thing, in the bright sunshine, it’s very very lavender. But as the day progressed, it got to be a nicer lighter color and then in the evening, it was lovely. Since it’s more likely that I will be in there more in the later evening, reading, sleeping, I think it’s just fine. Can’t wait to start moving stuff in and hanging up my pictures and of course, taking that first comfy nap!

Maggie found this at the Tractor Supply Store and we just had to get it. I love the windmill and the rooster… the windmill really goes around. And it has a rain gauge and such… cute. I have to say, there is just so much wind there, we MUST start investigating getting a real windmill and generating some energy. When I get a little time, I’m going to work on a logo with a windmill and a chicken and maybe something to do with music… hmmmm……

When we were putting up the dog fence, Maggie was the one that discovered these two ancient willow trees. I had thought they might be oak or apple, something that someone had topped and was resprouting, but Maggie told me they were willows because of the new growth and buds she found. Upon closer examination, she was right! They are willows! How cool. And they are entwined with climbing roses and grapevines! Crazy combination, but something interesting to watch grow this spring and summer for sure.

We’ve found a lot of signs of grapes and roses. Vines are everywhere and so are the cut back canes of roses past. Apparently the real estate company came and hacked back just about everything near the foundation and house. I get it, it was overgrown and just didn’t sell well that way. But it’s a shame that they had to be so brutal. I know that it will grow back, and it will be very interesting to see it all take place. We are still hunting the asparagas patch that Bill told us about. Haven’t found it yet. I did find a lovely patch of iris coming up on the eastern side of the poultry barn. I love iris! Yeah!

I was so happy to get a really nice, clean, fairly new dishwasher on Craigslist and we picked it up on Wednesday. The victim of a stainless steel conversion, this lovely little GE Whirlpool washer is only 5 years old and seems to be in perfect working order.

Now, we’ve been handwashing dishes for over three years now, and really don’t mind it at all. Sure, sometimes it gets away from us a little bit and they stack up a bit, but usually we can stay on top of it all. I like handwashing dishes, and to be honest, probably still will to a degree.

But, at the farm, there was a huge hole for one in the counter arrangement. I thought about putting oh, trash or recyclables in there, making a little curtain or something. But part of the problem was that all the plumbing under the sink was set up for a dishwasher as well! We couldn’t turn on the kitchen water because there were holes in it all, for a dishwasher connection! I priced out the new plumbing and it was about $25 or so dollars! And of course, all the time involved. And then we would have to do something to shore up the end of the counter top, because it was dependent on a washer being there. So it didn’t make sense to convert it all over when I knew I could get a dishwasher for under $50 and just be done with it.

So. We have a dishwasher.

Our new found handy guys, Jeremy and Jay, whom are also our yard and garden masters, came over and helped us out with a few little issues. They got that dishwasher installed and ready to go. So now we have a working sink in the kitchen! Yah!

They fixed two broken basement stairs, which was wonderful, because that was very dangerous… and they fixed a leak we found down there… one of the old valves to the bathroom sink was leaking and that is a major reason for some puddles down there. Steve discovered it but didn’t have the right parts to fix it. Jay and Jeremy had it all fixed up in no time fast!

But the one thing that we really needed was heat and unfortunately, after much trying, it was determined that the wall heater was not working and would not work. I suspected as much, even after Jeremy got the gas routed correctly and to the heater, it would not start. Even trying to start it manually, it would not start. Lance, our heating and cooling tech had said that it was old, and something that people just don’t fix. Sure enough I found that a brand new one runs only about $150 and I saw them on Craigslist for $75 to $100.

But I’ll be honest, I hate those things. They seem dangerous to me, and especially with cats and dogs, etc. Open flames.. I don’t really like the look and well, I just had them take it down. No sense in having it taunt us with it’s pretend offering of heat and not being able to produce it. We now have nothing in the house that runs with propane. No furnace, no heaters, no dryer, no stove. I wonder if you want sell back a whole tank of propane… haha… something I must look into.

I suppose that we could get a gas range, but I’m just not one to like cooking with one. Never have. I always seem to burn things with a gas range. I like the slightly slower, even and easy heat of electric. My girls have never cooked with gas either. Hmm… well, I suppose propane doesn’t really go bad… maybe we’ll think of something to use it for at some time!

In the meanwhile, I think we’ve solved some of our immediate heating needs. The kerosene heater is working and does a fantastic job of warming up the core of the house. It took us a little while to find anyone selling the stuff, it’s just not as common around here since the price rose to nearly as much as gas! $3.80 a gallon! We got two gallons and a storage tank and took it back to Windhaven. Maggie had read all about it (thanks Linda for the online guide!!!) And we read the info on our specific heater. It started right up and was soon at work giving us a nice warm glow in the place. Our couple electric heaters were working as well, and it was really pretty cosy in there.

I think our plan is to use the kerosene heater during the evening, to get the house warm. Once we call it a night, we will turn it off. And we will probably all sleep in one or two rooms, with lots of blankets, dogs and perhaps an electric heater or blanket if need be. I think the house will hold some heat for a few hours and though we might wake to coldness, it will be a good reason to get up and get working! If the Ingalls family could sleep in that cold attic in DeSmet North Dakota winters, well, we gals can rough it for a week or two in the Ohio spring. We promise to be VERY VERY careful with our little hot R2D2 fellow.

One of the fun things about rehab is the ability to think quick and our corndogs in a cup recipe is one born of that fun. We forgot to bring any sort of plates with us, or a hot pad. So we used a painters 5 in 1 tool to pull the rack and also push the little corn dogs out, and a couple cups we had for serving! It was fun and it worked… There is NO fast food near us! Yeah! So lunch either has to be brought from the Moby or purchase at the little local supermarket and warmed up or eaten here. I’m really looking forward to the no fast food thing. I know we will be eating much better when we are done with all this moving and running back and forth. My tummy is looking forward to more steady meals, for sure.

On Thursday, we left Jessy home because we were due a rock shipment and she had some orders and such she wanted to work on. One is a big one! And Evee and Gypsy were bumming that we were leaving them home often. So Maggie and I went out with a car load and then got to some painting. Maggie had previously used Kilz primer on her stairway to her loft hideaway, and now was painting it all nicely with some misstinted tan that we liked. She’s really a good painter, even if she’s not really one to enjoy it much. She thinks it’s very boring. I agree, but I just love how things look after just a simple coat or two of paint. It’s amazing. Her stairs look fantastic… so much better than the dark blue and grey. And then, she started to paint the living room yucky paneling! Oh my gosh! It’s wonderful!

Now, don’t worry, this is not the parlor, with it’s beautiful 100 year old solid wood paneling. This is the next room, with the fake ugly ripped 1070’s paneling. We figgered that we might as well try painting it first with a $5 gallon on paint and see if it is okay. Well, it’s more than okay, it’s really nice! Maybe this winter we might decide to really make this room nice, but for right now? A little paint and some time is going to make it very tolerable and nice.

I love this picture… it’s a shot through from the living room to my bedroom in the darkness. Very calm and pretty. I think the living room is going to be very nice with the same tan as Maggie’s stairs. A nice soft beigy tan. Warmish…. not too pastel. We’re going to put in our carpet from the Moby in this room, and I think it will be very nice. It needs to have the ceiling redone, and that might be a bit in the making, but soon. Soooooon. In the meanwhile? Just don’t look up! Haha…

I love this picture. Jessy was using a table lamp to look at Maggie’s paint job in the stairs and Evee was curious as well, though, perhaps a bit more as to what the heck Jessy was doing with the lamp! We definately need a few more lights there… it’s the first time we’ve been there in the dark! Pretty fun!

I’m so blessed to know several wonderful guys with trucks. Men and their trucks is a cool thing for sure. Tim came over to help move several of our large Ikea shelves to the homestead. We were going to use them in our office area and wanted to get them over when there was a little clearing in the weather. With these shelves in place, we could start to move over all the computer stuff and have a place for it to go!

And Tim was also lured out by the gift of farm scrap iron! He and friend like to scrap metal for a little extra money and I had a good amount of it rounded up for him! The old water heater, the gas heater, a couple old rusty bed springs, and a bathtub out in the field!!! I have to tell you, it was simply the COOLEST thing to be riding in the back of his truck on the tailgate, with Maggie and we’re bumping along in our own pasture out to the woodlot in the crisp spring evening air. Made me feel like I was 16 again. It was wonderful. And then laughing and searching around for more trash, it was just fun. Dirty from the days work, tired muscles, and yet, rejuvenated from the hunt. We turned over the tub and there was a DEAD SKUNK under it!!!! Hahahaha…. poor thing, I guess the weather might have gotten it, it wasn’t too long gone, but it was definitely pushing up daisies. Guess we’ll have to bury the little critter before the dogs find him.

Once the shelves were inside and we had them cleaned off from the little dead buggies that met their doom on the ride over, it was clear that our new world headquarters for Dragon Mountain Treasures was going to be wonderful! All that storage space! Yeah! Can’t wait to start utilizing it. Soon… soon…. we’re going to start bringing over office supplies, equipment and stock this whole week. Hopefully we’ll be in working order by the week end. That’s the goal!

We got a card in the mail at the farm that said that high speed internet was NOW available at our address! Yahoo! We’re saved!!! Procrastination is a wonderful thing! Now we don’t have to puzzle together a mess… and they’re having a sale, free installation! One of the first calls I’ll be making coming Monday!!!

Well, what do we have left to do???

Replace a circuit breaker for the kitchen because it keep tripping
More more major lawn/yard/pasture trim and weeding
One more till for the garden plot and then fence from all the bunnies we’ve been seeing!!!
Plant our garden!
Transplant all the trees and plants from the moby
Move all the rest of our big stuff

As you can see… this next week is crunch time. Of course, not everything has to be done before we can move in by next weekend. However, we’re really going to push to get as much done as we can manage. We’re hoping to have all the painting done by Tuesday. That is the goal. And then we will concentrate on getting everything ready to move in! Yeah!

Wish us luck!!!
