Stick, stick, throw the stick, stick… now… stick….

One of the nice things about the new sheep paddock and also, having most of the girls out back with Gideon in the weed patch, is that we can easily let the dogs out into the middle yard for a good romp and game of stick. I’m sure you’re familiar with the game stick… it involves an over eager dog and a stick. Pretty simple. You throw, they fetch, you throw, they fetch and repeat ad nauseam.

Evee is super good at stick. Ratchet is not. Oh he’ll chase it and then he sits and chews it to pieces. The fetch part of stick is not to his liking.

But Evee? She could play stick for 14 hours straight. She is relentless. She will focus on the stick and there is nothing else in the universe that she will sway her thoughts from.

Well, maybe, sheep… but only for a moment, because she loves stick.

You can see it in her eyes.

She will even put the stick in your hand, just like Gypsy would. I believe she learned it from Gypsy…. gosh how I miss that dog. She was just so much my life. Every day I think about her. I even accidently call Evee, Gypsy at times. Guess that she’s still hanging around the old place, it’s like a catch little glimpses of her here and there… Jack too. Those two critters I miss with all my heart, I just do.

But, that is the nature of pets and people. I suppose that just gives us more room in our hearts for more pets!

And I figured out WHO was eating our walnuts… out in the yard. I thought it was a big squirrel…. but nope…

It’s a Norwegian Black Terrier.

They are known for their good taste in English walnuts.

The chickens wish they could come out and play stick. They watch the game intently from their coop run, commenting on the spectacle with each other in hushed clucks and coos. It’s pretty funny to watch them all head bob and watch the dogs run out and back. My guess is that they would be pretty good at the game, if so allowed to play. Poor chickens.
