My Sticks are Blooming!

My raspberries are still kind of in shock I think… It’s been about 10 days or more since they were planted and still… it just looked like a stick garden until this morning!!!  YEAH!!!  Look… GREEN SPROUT!!!!

YEAH!!!  THEY’RE ALIVE!!!  THEY’RE ALIVE!!!

Ahem.   Okay, I will calm down now.

My strawberries did not fare as well… only about 1/3 of them survived the box storage…  oh well.  Live and learn.   I’ll probably see about replacing them this weekend.. it’s the Toledo Botanical Garden Mother’s Day Plant Sale this weekend and I can’t wait!   It’s been 5 years since I went last and I still remember all the great deals and beautiful plants that members culled from their own collections to offer to the public… beautiful native and naturalized plants that have been thriving in the area and now can come and live at the moby!  I had gotten 5 years ago the most beautiful purple Siberian Iris there and I hope there are more…  Sigh…  more beautiful plants and flowers for the moby!

Jessy mulched out the pumpkin mounds for us… and they are doing pretty good.  A few looked a little wilty, but they were back up and happy this afternoon after we had a good rainstorm.  It’s been a little chilly at night… down to the 50s but I think we did a good job of toughening them up.  And so far, no bunnies have nibbled them down.

Aren’t these beautiful tulips?   We bought over 400 bulbs to plant last fall and to be honest most were the cheapo collections of crocus and daffodils and tulips and most have been real pretty but pretty basic… except a few… and these flame colored ones are very pretty.  There are some yellowy pink ones about to bloom in a day or two and I hope I catch them on film. (ah… digital media??  haha….)

Jessy has been taking some stunning photos with her fancy camera… I want to snatch a bunch and make a slide show of them for everyone to see… simply stunning!  She’s a great photographer!  Both my kids are!
