Wagon for Sale…

Well Gunnar’s home. Can’t believe it. I have owned this car now for 20 months and it’s been in and out of the shop for 17 of those months. I was hoping it would be fixed and I could sell it and be done with this bad relationship that hurts me every time I think about it… (I wanted that car SOOOOO bad!!!!) but they dropped it off and said, Oh, by the way, we accidentally broke one of the transmission mounts so it thumps when he shifts from first to second gear. Oh and they can’t fix it for two weeks.

Then I get in it this morning and the dang thing wouldn’t start. The security system ignition kill switch is acting bad and you have to do this freaky maneuver to get it to start.

You see, I apparently, have employed Mr. Haney’s repair shop and I am doomed to a cycle of car repair hell for some terrible misdeed that I did in a past life. I’m pretty sure that is the real situation.

Everything revolves around the transmission repair/replacement that I paid for initially. And they just can’t get it right. So, I haven’t paid a dime since that first repair. But they don’t want to deal with me anymore, and just ignore me and put me off and I’m just not good at being a squeeky wheel. It’s some friends of a friend and they could care less to fix my beloved beast, even though they are the ones that have messed it up THREE TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now there is some electrical issue that makes it hard to start and the dashboard lights are all randomly coming on and off. And it’s filthy inside. Shesh.

I had hoped to sell the thing for some extra cash to help with the farm. And then get a little beater pickup truck as a second vehicle. I hate to be all the way outta town (almost 40 miles) with just one car. That’s a heck of long drive for my friends to rescue me, but if we have two cars, then at least Jessy can come rescue me or if one is down, we can go get parts, etc., etc.,

So, since I was going to put it on Craig’s list… I decided to go ahead and in a sarcastic funny manner, detail it’s failings in a super positive way. I hope you enjoy my sarcastic release of pent up anger and frustration! Who knows… someone that can handle these little issues would get a great car!!!! Until then, I’m driving the heck outta it for the next two weeks and MAYBE they will fix it… and if not, once we get settled at the farm, I will find a mechanic out there and start a new relationship with them and just bite the bullet and pay a NORMAL repair shop a small fortune to get my baby running right.

I think of it as a sort of karmic payback for the super sweet deal of a homestead! So, I’m going to try my darnest to be positive and happy about Gunnie being home.

Yeah, okay, maybe it’s weird, but it’s better than sitting in the dang thing bawling my eyes out like a baby.

Not that I would know about that. Ahem.

  1. We have been enjoying your YouTube videos and just found your blog. You have such an uplifting way and we are happy you have found a farm so we can see even more projects (we also bought an old run down farm and have now been working on ours for a year).

I just saw this post on your car and for what your selling it for you could make almost as much just taking it to scrap (they are going for about $350.00 a car around here) or parting it out.

    Good luck!!

    • Hi! Thanks for writing! I love your blog tooooo! I want to get a tractor now after see you guys!

Well, I hate to just give the old beast away. It’s my dream car. I figger if I can’t sell it for near to the 2 grand, I’ll just keep it in a field and see about fixing in in a few months. I’m pretty sure if I could find some local kid with time on his hands and not much cash in his pocket, I can get the mount fixed. And I can just ignore the dash board issues if I just keep a good watch on the fluids. It does drive nice when it runs. It might just be my emergency car, my go to the gas station in the little town down the road, car. You know, close enough to walk home if I get stranded? haha….

I love that beast. Sigh. But some relationships are just doomed from the beginning!!!!

      :-)
