Garden Cleanup…

DSC_0454

Well, it’s time to finish out the garden for this year and I am a happy camper.   It’s not quite as big as I want it to be, but it’s sure outshown the first two years!   We actually had a pretty good harvest and even got a few things in the freezer!  That says success to me!

We got about 7 or 8 good sized pumpkins this year!  Yeah a first!

And a pretty good harvest of garlic and onions, although at the end the roosters discovered the garlic and onions and were digging it up!   Shesh!   I’m going to plant them in a much higher bed this next year for sure.

So we started to let the critters into the area to clean it up.  We’re lazy homesteaders if we can be and I like having the animals take care of the leftovers and tall grass in there!  Why not?   They graze it all down and do a really good job of eating all the leftover plants and such.  They love it.  They are like hooved locusts!   And then all we have to do is come in and tidy up the place!

Enjoy these pictures of the gang out enjoying the garden space!  They sure had a good time for about a week!
