How NOT to contain sheep…

This is an informational post on how NOT to build a gate to keep sheep out of your garden.

It is brought to you courtesy of the Mobile Home Woman and her caring, compassionate need to help teach others how to do fun, homesteading things.

The above photo is at some other persons farm, yeah, not ours of course. We would NEVER think that a hammock, tree branches, a wagon and some wood and a chair would hold back three hungry ewes. Naw…. We know better than that.

This picture below is how we would have made a gate for the garden. Yep. Made for only $7 and some left over fencing we had here. As you can see, it’s very good at holding in teenagers.

As you can see, we have made a lovely new gate and it works! Yes, our little trio of naughty ewes walked up and all stood there contemplating the new gate in silence. After a few long minutes they walked away to try and find some other mischief to make. Like eating my hostas. Good thing hostas are pretty hardy and will survive fine being moved to a sheep-free safe zone.
