Well, USDA doesn’t want us. And you’ll laugh why. (Or maybe cry, I dunno…) It’s too cheap. The fixed cost of the mortgage exceeds the state limits. In other words, we’ve shot too low and aren’t trying to get ourselves into too much debt.

This makes now, 4 attempts through traditional lending. I think it’s fair to say, that’s not going to be our option at this point.

So now, we need to just go cash. We’ve raised five grand. We need another 5 grand to be able to make an offer. We’re working on it. Going to put my car on the block, and liquidate a few things, try to raise up some more. Steve, the girl’s father, is going to try and get a personal loan, see what he can raise. I’m trying to find out right now if we can go ahead with an inspection, before an offer, even at the risk of loosing that money if we find something wrong. It would be better than getting loans and raising funds and THEN finding out there is something dreadfully wrong.

We don’t need to move, this is just a dream that has fallen in our laps a year earlier than our plans. I don’t want it to get away, just for the lack of funds. It just kills me that we’re not able to make the puzzle pieces fit on such a simple, reasonable situation.

Crazy thing to ask, but is there anyone out there in blog land that would like to make some very decent interest on a year loan for five grand? I mean, I’m talking guaranteed 20% on it? Better than a money market fund or playing the ponies.

Email me if you are interested and we can talk. sherri@westvon.com

In the meanwhile, we’re just going to keep at it. Saving every penny, trying to raise the cash. Applying for some personal loans, or credit cards with cash advances, whatever we can do to make it happen. I want to make sure that in the end, we did EVERYTHING possible to make this work. If it doesn’t work out, and we’re back to our original plan, then, well, that is that and we tried. In the meanwhile, we’re still at it. Even if today has been a bummer of a day.

  1. Sherri, I have discovered that if you are so far in debt and can’t see daylight.. They will loan you more money.. duh!! Owe for nothing… Can’t get a loan….That is want is wrong with our system. We went through our bank to get a personal loan to buy our place. Cost 15,000 for land and Moby. The place stood for the itself on the loan. I still am praying for you and the girls !!!
