One Day Vacation…

We snuck away last Saturday to take a little day trip into neighboring northern Indiana.  We were bound for a rock and mineral show, eventually, but had a lovely time, driving there, visiting the Amish communities and also a neat woodcrafter’s store.  We all really enjoyed ourselves!  The rock show was fun, and Jessy got a lot of nice specimens for her gallery store.  And we just got out and around, which doesn’t happen a lot for us.  Just haven’t had the budget for too much.  But we are doing a lot better, finally, and it was time.

It was such a beautiful day as well, so nice for sightseeing and just enjoying the ride.  Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect.  The show was sponsored by the Michianna Rock and Mineral Club and was held at the South Bend fairgrounds.  We have been to larger shows, but the people here were super friendly and the displays and vendors, top notch.  Jessy has sure got the lapidary bug and wants to get her own set up to make cabochons and jewelry soon!  Maybe someday!

We had lunch and later on got an ice cream for the ride home.  It was just a perfect day.  South Bend is about two hours from our home, so it was not a bad drive at all.  We got a little mixed on the way home and ended up in Michigan for a few minutes, so we laughed and said it was a three state tour!   On the way home, we stopped in Angola for the best donuts in the entire world… Tom’s Donuts!  Yah!  Okay, certainly the best in our area!  If you stop at the factory there, you can get like 3 dozen donuts for next to nothing!  We did and popped those bad boys in the freezer to enjoy for awhile.

Our next outing is going to be at the Sauder Village Fiber Arts show, end of September!  We would have loved to be a vendor, but they are very well, picky about their vendors and had way too many requirements for us, just starting out.  Maybe next year!  But we are sure going to go and check it out!  Maybe pass out a few cards or so.  Make some contacts!  It should be fun.

And we are going to the 70th Annual Greater Detroit Gem, Mineral and Fossil show at the Macomb Community College on October 9-11, 2015 for sure!  That is a good one and we are looking forward to that one!  (And probably an Ikea side trip!!!  Yah!)
