Just stuff around the Homestead…

The lilacs around the town are blooming like nuts this year!  So pretty!   Of course, mine are not yet, so I snatched a spring from the huge bush at the gas station.  I hope they don’t mind.  Lilac is just my most favorite flower around!   I sure hope mine get with the act!   I did whack them back a bit last year…   I hope I didn’t take off all the old growth.   Well, they were getting leggy and tall and I wanted them to be a little more in control and not so crazy.  Sigh…   I guess time will tell.  They are putting out a ton of growth and leaves, filling out nicely.   I guess I might have to just admire everyone’s flowers from afar!

Duke is doing well…  he is quite the king of his domain.  He has taken to laying on top of the bunny hutches, because he can see all around the plantation.  He is a funny barn kitty.

Bonnie is doing well, she is quite the good mom.   She is a little protective, though, and doesn’t seem to try about anyone!   She keeps a good watch over her babies…

Still waiting on Pearl, our last ewe.   A couple times we thought she was in labor or thinking about it and she got locked up in the lambing shack.   But then come morning, she was still the same, just getting more and more chubby!   Beginning to think she’s going to have twins!

Basil, our first born lamb, is just quite the character.  He is the ring leader of the lamb pack and just a very brave little boy.   He’s cute as a button and I’m pretty sure he’s going to be brown like his momma!  Yah!   I love brown Shetland wool!

Rafeka asking for a little love.   He loves to be pet and cuddled now.   He’s just such a love buddy.

Buttercup is always cuddly…  but she likes to get in on the love fests!

Iris resting with Ginger…  Rosemary is sitting on her other side.   She is such a good momma…   her little girl lambs are getting nice and big!  DSC_0046

And of course, Willow and Laurel are doing fantastic!   So brave and just confident.  They are going to be good members of our little herd!   I sure hope they have nice fleeces…  their mom’s fleece is a little weird but their dad’s is amazing.  Hopefully, they will get a little more of their dad’s influences!  That would be wonderful, eh?  DSC_0049 DSC_0055

It’s busy around here, just seems overwhelming at time with all that we need to do!   Crazy busy is the word for sure.  Just trying to remember that there is plenty of time and nothing is really in a panic need…  just want to see things get finished up and all before it gets super hot.  Don’t want the garden to get away from us this year…  it’s trying to, but just am not going to let that happen!  :-)  Our fruit plantings are doing well, and that is good.  Just gotta get things ready to go for the veggies!
