Guinea Hog Pork Marketing Plan…

DSC_0759

We joined the American Guinea Hog Association last year and I am pleased to be a member farm in their organization.   I’d like to do more with the group and in support of these wonderful little hogs.  We love ours!   They are just a perfect match to our homestead.  And maybe someday we’ll be able to actually raise some for our own table, but as has come about with two nice litters, they are all sold and bartered away before they get big enough for freezer camp!   But now that we have two more sweet little gilts approaching their first birthday and four or five months later, their first litters, we might EVENTUALLY have some to raise for their gourmet quality meat!

The Association has offering this wonderful little report all about this fine hog and it’s offerings to the gourmet restaurant industry and I am so excited to read it and consider raising our own hogs for some of the area’s finest establishments!   How cool would that be!  One just never knows what might lay in your future.   If you asked me ten years ago if we would be raising beautiful fiber animals and gourmet meat hogs, I would have laughed and called you silly… (of course, I would be all excited because I really wanted to do that, even back then….)  but now, it seems that we might be on the right path to a good thing.

And they are super darn cute as piglets and adorable as hogs!  We love our guinea hogs!!!
