Happy Thanksgiving to You All!
We tried so hard to get a cute picture of Ratchet and Evee sitting at the table, getting ready to dig in, but neither would cooperate! They would sit on the bench, very sheepishly, and act like they were being bad, even though we were trying to encourage them to sit pretty and take a picture! Haha… I guess we need to plan ahead a bit more and practice before they will help us out!
We had a simple gathering, just the girls and I and that was just fine. We had worked so hard the last week, trying to get all our orders caught up and out the door so we could enjoy a few days off. We brined a lovely full turkey breast and made homemade mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole and cranberry jello relish! And of course course a little sweet corn! It was perfect for us!
And we got our our lovely china from Grandma Mildred! I do miss her, I think she would have loved to be at our gathering! And in spirit, I’m sure she was here. We all filled up our plates and we gave thanks and a nice prayer for all the blessings in our lives and dug in!
I almost had a turkey plate catastrophe!!! I forgot room for the green bean casserole! And that is dreadful because I’m pretty much the only person that eats the stuff. But I managed to shove stuff over a wee bit and make some room. I think I took a little too much spuds, but holy cow, homemade mashed potatoes? Those are the bomb…
We ate and enjoyed lovely conversation and ate a little more… Until it was time to share with our very patient and polite critter guests. They were all within earshot, waiting nicely. I am very pleased to report that we do not have begging pets… they know us well and we always share a good feast. Ratchet was very ready to give a plate a little lick up!
Aww… nice waiting doggies! Waiting for a goodie or two. We have such good animal friends! Everyone outside got lovely 55 degree weather and sunshine to eat their lovely hay and extra goodies of grains and apples today! Inside everyone got plates to like and a little turkey bits and such! The kittens were so impressed! All this and turkey too!!! We are careful not to overdue the feast, but everyone gets a little taste!
Evee even licked up the jello salad eventually, but first to the good stuff!
Luna was very very interested in the green bean casserole… good thing cuz’ I’m gonna be eating it all week! I might want to share with her.
I thought this was funny. The party’s over… Luna contemplated the dirty dishes and lack of kitty goodies… Hmmm…. Totoro was snoozing and would not come when he was called. He missed out! All that was left was the water glasses! Of course, Jessy saved him a little piece of turkey and he was sorry he missed the fun! I’m pretty sure his kitty siblings told him all about this wonderful event!!
Since yesterday was my birthday, the girls had gotten me this beautiful 4 way cake! It had carrot cake, red velvet cake, chocolate cake and caramel cake on it! Oh my dear… it was lovely. So we had that for our Thanksgiving desert… we are not pumpkin pie people! Sorry! I got a little sliver of each one to celebrate! Lovely end to a lovely feast… And then we all went off and took little food coma naps! We have a planned Settlers of Catan marathon for this evening, but I’m not sure if it’s going to get off the ground! If nothing else, we will start it up tomorrow evening after we get a few more things out the door! Should be a lovely weekend!!!
Hope you and yours had a lovely day as well, even if you don’t celebrate the US Thanksgiving! You are all a blessing to us and we are very thankful for everything that makes our lives special!!!
